Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Captain America; Spider-Man; I'll be honest, I grew up a DC guy, so those last two aren't as near and dear to my heart as some of the others that I failed to mention, but fear not, dear reader, for they serve a purpose. I believe it was Denny O'neil who said that these characters were our "Modern Mythology," and I could not agree more. They are, truly, awe inspiring. Aquaman; the campy character from the 1940's who became a joke commonly associated with the Silver Age and the Super Friends. Some interpretations embrace the camp (That's Outrageous!), while others try to erase it (1990's Barbarian Aquaman; New 52 Aquaman), but what I've never seen addressed is how Aquaman shouldn't be trifled with.

Sure, you could argue that he controls the seven seas, or that he's a king with an army and an expert fighter, and that the pressure under the ocean...
