Default Sideshow's Back Pages

It's probably been discussed before, but I thought people might like to see some of the early works by Sideshow, back when it produced vinyl and resin model kits.

I have this first one, a resin kit sculpted by Mitch DeVane. I haven't built mine yet. Don't know who painted this first one, but I saved the photo as a possible reference:

Here's the same kit, this time painted by Tom Gilliland:

The following kits were vinyl, and were all sculpted by Mat Falls and painted by Tom Gilliland:

This last one is a resin kit, again painted by Tom. It was sculpted by Dan Platt. It seems to be the kit most often still seen and discussed. It's Bernie Wrightson's Frankenstein:

Hope you enjoyed this trip in the Wayback Machine.

The "demon putting out his eyes" is actually based on a drawing by Clive Barker....I have wanted one of these(painted) for a long time, but are very hard to come by...I think it was released back in '97 or '98.....

I honestly don't know what to think. Obviously, they were catering to a very specific niche market with their earlier pieces, and there was a lot of attention to detail. And the name Sideshow seems more appropriate to those type of products because it reminds me of things you'd see in (please pardon my upcoming choice of words) a "sideshow carnival from Hell"

But I don't particularly care for them. I like the type of products Sideshow produces nowadays. Although, it would be interesting to see them go back to their roots on occasion. Perhaps really ratchet up the grotesqueness of the Dead line??

Seller says they are Sideshow and not re-cast... pretty good price too!

Schlitzie, i think was in an old film called "Freaks". Its a film where they used real life carnival performers. Its pretty cool. I really like the resin model too. Hope I can find one.
