Firstly I'd like to say that I did not sculpt this. *sigh* I wish I had. :lol

A friend of mine who works as a professional sculptor here in the UK and who isn't a member here asked me to post up images of this sculpt that he did recently to get a little feedback. He was tentatively thinking of producing a limited run of this bust maybe cast on bronze. Maybe doing a few other golden age Horror stars too.

Despite looking so large in the photos, the sculpt is in fact only tiny. About 5" including the sculpted base.

So what does anybody think? I know caricature work isn't normally seen on this forum, but I thought I'd give it a shot...*g*

Love it! I'm not really a collector of busts... but I love the style and I think it would look especially nice in bronze :rock

And as far as a critique, I really can't find a fault with it. Its of course very stylized, but still very recognizable as Price.

Great likeness. I remember meeting him when I was really little. He did a lecture at University of Houston. He was easily one of the nicest people I've ever meet.

Please ask your friend to make a Boris Karloff Bust!!!!!!:monkey5:monkey5:monkey5

That looks fantastic. And even though it is a caricature, the likeness is spot on. I'd love see a 1:6 scale realistic headsculpt of VP from him!

Thanks for all the wonderful feedback guys! I've passed all your comments onto him and he's knocked out with the response this first sculpt has received. Thank you all so much.

The item itself has already had a silicone mould taken of it, and so I think he now has to think about whats the best to cast it in, and a price.

You here will be the first to know what that will be when he gets that sorted.

I'd love see a 1:6 scale realistic head sculpt of VP from him!

Well he's not done one of VP, but he does do a lot of realistic sculpts as part of his job. He's a senior portrait sculptor for Madame Tuassads in London. He's a another few examples of his older work....

Wow! Those Wax figures are creepy! Your friend could make some big bucks here making 1:6 sculpts of people! :rock

I know1 I've been badgering him to do a few heads for that scale, and he just doesn't seem to be that interested. Especially in the character that everyone on here really wants a good likeness of. *sigh*

Oh well. I'll just have to keep at him. :lol Once again thanks for all the lovely comments about his work guys. He really appreciates it.

Here's the finished George Bush that was also one of his sculpts that he did for Madam Tussauds after the hair and colouring dept have had their way with it.

Forgive me for bumping this old thread up, but I have an update after all this time. :wave

My friend went onto sculpt a Peter Cushing in the same style as his Vincent Price. He's also done a Jeremy Bret which I've yet to photograph.
