I recently found someone on Ebay who was doing something similar. I showed the photos to my Son and he looooooved it (Deadpool is his favorite super hero character). His birthday is coming up at the end of the month so I decided to make one for him.

This is the before photo, 10" Leonardo figure from Toys R Us:

I used a Dremmel to remove the mask, and used sculpting putty to add on the little mask piece in the back of his head, and filled in his mouth. Also sculpted a Deadpool belt buckle. Painted him red and black, but IMO he was just too clean for my taste. So I decided to dirty him up a bit.

Added in a couple of sais that I had lying around, along with a belt and some grenades. Here is my finished product:

That's awesome! I love it! :clap

And I'm glad you got the gummy primer issue worked out.

LOL thanks! Had to remove all of the primer by hand which was a PITA. Ended up spraying the whole figure with red vinyl paint that I got from the auto store. Then painted over that with flat black acrylic paint. Zero stickiness, thank God. :)

Thanks guys! This was a really fun project. I can't wait to see the look on my Son's face when he gets it for his birthday next weekend.

He's turning 7 and he always talks about how he wants his own Hot Toys (hahahahaha). So we had a talk recently about whether he is old enough to handle having "collectible figures" - toys that he displays and doesn't play with.

So this will be a test. Either he displays it, or plays with it and trashes it. In which case I won't be making him anything else for a few years. ;)

Thanks guys. I did this as a gift to my Son who loves both DP and TMNT. I finished it in time for his birthday in April, but still haven't given it to him just yet. We're in the process of remodeling his play room and he will be displaying a collection of "not to be played with" toys. This will be one of them.

Can't wait to see the look on his face. ;)
