MTV.com said:
SAN DIEGO -- A Comic-Con attendee stabbed another in the face with a pen at the conference on Saturday (July 24). The dispute was allegedly over the victim's attempt to save a seat for a friend before the Universal Studios panel, which was taking place in the San Diego Convention Center's 6,500-seat Hall H.

First word of the incident reached Twitter around 5 p.m. PDT. According to entertainment journalist Jen Yamato, the man who was arrested for the stabbing was wearing the "Harry Potter" T-shirt that Warner Bros. had given away during its panel earlier in the day. He was taken away in handcuffs, with his white T-shirt covered in blood. The man reportedly stated he was defending himself and that he was "sorry it happened." The victim, who was stabbed near the eye, was taken away by medics on a stretcher.

Police told Entertainment Weekly that attendees subdued the attacker, who was then arrested. The victim has been taken to the hospital, and their status remains unknown. Identities of the people involved in the incident have not been released.

The Universal panel, which has reportedly been pushed back an hour from its 4:45 p.m. start time, is slated to include first looks at "Paul" and "Cowboys and Aliens," and also pushed back the Marvel and Kevin Smith panels.

Here's a vid of the attacker being dragged away by the police:

I've been reading about this on various Twitter posts. Its incredible that seat saving at a panel lead to this but then again it isn't which is sad in itself.

Comic con needs bigger venues to be held at....especially these panels, they should be in the staples center or something.

Correct. I just took Kotaku's title. It might not be accurate, but it's the most sensationalist. Adds a bit of punch to the title.

The attacker could be 'swag thing', but I was going to suggest that the moron could be a new entry in that list Mike posted. :cuckoo:

you could change the thread title to "Swag Thing Strikes Again!!!!"

Losing an eye to a Harry Potter fan at a comic convention... that's a hell of war story to tell the grandkids.

this was all very weird and only happened a few yards from where I was sitting in hall H. they had to move people to new seats because of the blood. :thud:
