waitlist nrd

just been to the ss site to get on a waitlist item and they are asking for an nrd,surely they cant do this as there is no guarantee that it will convert to an order.
its like given ss money to sit in there bank to make interest ,only to be told we dont have the item,does this make any sense to anyone.

I think they just mean if it converts into an order then you pay the NRD.

Yes it only means that if it converts it will charge you. Not charging you just to be on it.
