Nah, I totally get about the hair. TWS sculpt is beautiful - but just too mature, or something. Too modern. Unless I try under the Rescue helmet for a kitbash and sand the front part of the hair down. I don't know if I can stuff the TWS head - with sanding - into a spare Cap helmet either. And then kind of paint wash the skin for a smoother look e.g. un-do the realism a bit.

That's good about the shields - also since I started futzing for a quick pick - GA and WS holding up well so far re costume. Classic figs. Happy to have two "vintage" Caps, in the end. Eventually TFA will have his own WW2 display.

Username posted some pictures in the Rescue Cap thread showing the TWS unmasked head on the Rescue Cap figure (post 2153). You'll need to use a dremel to cut off the hair for the helmet to fit though, so you'll be sanding for a while if you go that route.

Cool looking setup by the way (especially that snow base)! Nice to see you picked up the sniper rifle for Bucky too.

I took one of the original Stealth Cap bootleg headsculpts from OneSixthKit and sanded off the hair as mention above. It looks okay, and is a bit better than the little head of the Rescue Cap.
Since then, i have gotten a dozen of the Stealth Cap unmasked headsculpts and intend to eventually replace this one with an OG HT one with removed hair. Till then, here's roughly what it looks like on the figure. If you want all your Caps to look the same, that sculpt is the way to go in my very humble opinion.
Here are the images. At the end is a TWS DC shield stripped back to the metal and repainted with more traditional red and blue.

Thank you skizzoid! My setups are *slowly* getting there. Slowly. I use bookshelves - stuff I pick up at thrift stores, or Overstock, or wherever vs. a Detolf - so far - 'coz I like diorama/scene bases, which hog space up. But then it's messing around w. plastic/acrylic$$$ for some sort of cover re dust (tho I don't think I fuss too much - just the usual care.)

Also like accessories and backgrounds...that Phicen's "Snow Soldier" base which has been useful for all kinds of figs. (Monkey Depot has in every once in a while - really nice base.)

LOL Bucky being a fav of mine - my WS(s) have entire arsenal. Knives, rifles. For me Bucky Barnes is THE kitbash candidate (along with BW) thanks to his *murky* Hydra career. For me, he's the most fun to work with in that way also HT was so cheap w. accessories re CW fig - quick cell shot messin' around

HOLY &**^^% Username! Thank you for taking the time to post - *inspirational* and beautiful collection. Beautiful pics. Good examples for me too (I plan to use the Stealth Cap portrait + 3rd party rescue *distressed* outfit to do a 'bash for the Cap/Bucky arrive back at camp WW2 scene.

So I gotta have a Cap portrait that will fit the helmet. Also, since I was messing with the GA - I think I'd like a switchout for the original sculpt.)

It's nice to know that removal of the Stealth sculpt "hair wave" is do-able re fitting the WW2 helmet.

I used to display figures on my desk/dresser, but I was concerned about dust (and proper lighting), so I went with Detolf/cabinet displays. I like diorama-type scenes as well; they're just harder to pull off in a Detolf with multiple figures.

CW Bucky was definitely pretty sparse on the accessories; I don't even use half of the weapons that the TWS version came with, but I like to at least have the option to switch it up.

Well, for sure, besides being my fav MCU character, the TWS weapons and looks for me are a perfect excuse to have more than one TWS Bucky. For CW Bucky - well, I have 3rd party civvie outfits but IMO kind of a shame HT didn't just do something like the Cap Stealth set. Bucky spent a lot of time in those street clothes.

Yeah, figure care - since I had my "retro" Caps and Bucky on the desk. LOL it's taken me a bit of time to either shake off the *joy* of getting Rescue and TFA and kinda kicking myself for not getting them earlier. So now I wanna look after them - feels like a near thing with skyrocketing 'bay prices.

Still - it was good to be looking my GA over, too. Re-watching scene where Bucky pulls Cap from the river - he's able to do that the way the GA suit has straps coming over the shoulders. TFA uniform is different. Sometimes I wonder the "museum" version (GA) was really created because the Russos knew that Bucky had to pull Cap somehow in the film, and it needed to not look silly + Bucky would have had dislocated/broken arm

Although it's logical that Cap had more than one uniform too.

I only noticed the straps originally 'coz I was a new/newish collector and was having *angst* over choosing GA or TFA. Back then it was real important to me that the uniform was the one where Bucky was able to pull Cap from the river with one arm - since the two had basically beaten the **** out of each other. Also - IMO the entire way the Russos handled the scene, down to the music, was perfection.


For me, it was part of getting the "right" "vintage" Cap at the time. Lots of discussion on YT and SF. I liked GA having more red, the diecast shield, and the pinstriping. I was too new for the comments about "flaky shields" to not get me nervous re TFA (now, I'm more like, whatever, I can fix that or source a shield....)

That's true about the auction tho. Only know that 'coz I tripped over some pics for it just this week - looking for some reference images:

But I figure the Russos did really want a different uniform for TWS. I bet they could have reconstructed the original TFA costume if they really wanted to. GA seems a bit more streamlined - less straps around the biceps - guess it would be better to take on another super-soldier in, with less extra layers.

Fast forward tho and over time I'm appreciating TFA more and more as a film than I originally did - IMO really well-crafted as films go with charismatic actors. Plus it sinks in w. rising prices and Feige changing the MCU - just glad I had the sense to jump in for TFA and Rescue even if I paid upmarket (but reasonable IMO at this point for older figs). Just liking the new TFA and Rescue Caps a lot *happy purchases*.
TFA is a great fig, great details (as is Rescue).

Quick cell pics with Sideshow's "Waypoint" Diorama (really was picked up for Bucky and Natasha, originally). Not a final display. (This dio is heavy - needs a wood shelf IMO. ) Maybe wrong but I figure like with Stealth Cap and GA - the shoulders etc. that folks have complaints might? soften up over time. I don't have any urge to mod these re bodies tho I've seen some nice mods.





Now I just need to get the "distressed Rescue Cap" kitbash going and getting the hair off my extra Stealth Sculpt e.g. fit the helmet. But thanks to the posts and pics I know that's doable.

I was lucky enough to see some of the props on display at C2E2 before the auction, and if I had the money, I would have bid on one of the shields, or even the hero costume... But they totally could have remade the TFA suit if they wanted to- they still had access to the designer/designs.

Fast forward tho and over time I'm appreciating TFA more and more as a film than I originally did - IMO really well-crafted as films go with charismatic actors. I will forever be bitter that TFA had so few scenes with the Howlies and that the one part where they were actually being super awesome was a damn 2 minutes montage ... T_T Just Cap and the Howlies should have been a movie by itself. Just the team taking out Hydra base after Hydra base and ****ing things up for Red Skull. Haaa~ that would have been so cool ... T_T

IMO - unfortunately - just seems like over time - audiences really take to characters and IMO Marvel needs to explore more of their stories - like I think there should have been more of the Winter Soldier, Hawkeye, Cap, etc. before Civil War - but whether it's the expense of making a film or other - frustratingly Marvel introduces characters or hints at events, and then just careens off to introduce a new character or set of characters, or does a sequel with the "biggest" lead characters. "New" sells.
Sad because those casts will never be again.

Now that I'm planning this "mini-vintage TFA Cap section" on the shelf - it's kinda frustrating how hard it's gonna be - if it ever happens $$$$ - to get any of the Howlies into the display. Peggy, Red Skull, Bucky are long-term *reasonable* possibilities. Am sure there are custom folks/sculptors/costumers out there that could help, if only I were rich.

The more I watch it, the more I'm upset that all their cool action scenes were just a short montage. On the other hand, there isn't anything in the movie I'd cut to make more room for those sequences (well, maybe most of the plane sequence... which basically only exists to freeze Cap).

Didn't check actual sales but postings - yeah. Certain figs - a lot of CW figs too - are off the charts$$$$ esp. NIB. Haven't been collecting long enough to know if it will stay that way. Also even NIB these figs are aging so I'm cautious and only go with most high-rated or trusted sellers.

I just ordered that shield. It looks great. My first avenger shield hasnt flaked bit i also never handle it either.

You won’t regret it! My original shield would flake if i stared at it for too long. I saw the EFX one but for some reason I held back but once I saw it in hand, it makes the original one look toyish.

One small thing is you have to create longer straps to attach to the arms because the ones included can’t open up enough to fit the arm through. But this is an easy fix.
