Re: My 1/6 Guyver and other Bash/custom jobbies
Heres a rough guide i put up for Azurepred.
Cut the vinyl kit using the 1 on the other thread (
here) as a visual template, if your doing that 1. I used a sharp knife and a dremel to sand and get rid of the worst parts. I mainly got rid of the non armour parts as well, as the bodysuit is for that, plus u wont be able to get the armour on or move the fig with them on it.
Give it a good wash in hot soapy water.
Then put it all on the body you have for him and see what needs heating for reshaping. Use hot water for any reshaping. Hold it in the shape you want and then put it in cold water.
When its dry give it a few primer spray coats, i used cans personally. For a light finished colour use white, for darker go grey or black. Give each coat of primer a few hours to dry it avoids any pains of stickiness etc. After the last primer coat i left it to fully dry over night.
Next thing up is doing the hands, use a hotglue gun and fill it 2 3rds full inside, then grab the hand pegs you got with the body your using and gently push them into the hot glue and wait a bit til it hardens.
Next up is the neck. With my kit it was a pain at 1st as i had to build a neck piece to extend it. To extend the neck i used my hot glue gun and made circles of layers. Very easy and once its painted it looks fine. With that other kit it looks like you will need to modify inside the head to get the head to both fit and turn.
The feet look nice and simple so thats nps as is most of the armour. With mine the leg armour was much longer, so i popped the feet loose into the armour with some black tape to make them a bit more secure, and hot glue to fix them.
The chest might be a pain. I had to cut mine up the back and pull it apart to tuck the body in, then i reshaped the back a bit. With that kit an easy way is to do a nice cut up the front of it, fit it then use a bit of milliput or something to refill where u cut it.
So once your happy with how everything fits put the black body suit on fit everything then hotglue it in place and milliput any gaps. Let that dry then primer and paint.
You'll want to do a few coats of paint. Paint everything rough as a guide dont worry about edges and minor detail etc. Concentrate on getting a feel for it and making sure your happy with the colour. The second coat will make any paint slightly darker but will make it look richer and obvioulsy better covered. You can do all the small fiddly bits then with a smaller brush. After that paint the eyes and other small details, gloss and your done
