saw the movie a loooong time ago...like when i was in middle school. but back then if it wasn't jason or freddy i thought it was crap. he does go around part of the movie with a pillow case on his head i think though.

I've seen the Town tha Dreaded Sundown years ago. It's a decent film but not super accurate. But yes the killer does wear a sack over his head. I think his look inspire Jason's first look.

Yep dont remember much about it, but did see it as a kid and still wouldnt mind having this on dvd.

I have a dv-r around here somewhere transferred from a vhs. I watched it. It was ok. Dawn Wells was in it. She was still attractive then so its worth watching for her if nothing else. A remake? Why not? Couldnt hurt. Original isnt exactly anyone's Citizen Kane.:monkey3

I haven't yet seen the old film, but I did see the trailer. It looks like an interesting film to watch, though not entirely accurate, and is no cult generating horror movie.

I just think it has GREAT potential for a modern day remake, with more accuracy, and the niceness of today's film quality, etc.

I think this one of the most chilling things, because they never caught the jerk who did it, and had very little information on him, or how everything happened. Thus why he is the "Phantom Killer".

It would be cool to have a big release of a remake.

Personally I useually find documentaries on true crime stuff better than movies. There was actually a documentary of infamous unsolved murder cases on either TLC or Discovery a few years ago and one of the cases profiled was the Phantom Murders. Zodiac was another. Still this case has all the makings of a standard slasher. A masked killer, lovers lane etc. I think perhaps remaking it and not being historically accurate would be nice. I think that was some of the charm of the original.

Anywho, if you can get over that it wasn't the most accurate movie made on a true event, it's really not a bad movie. I really wish it would get a DVD release allready.

I will say I always liked the cover art to this movie. Something about the bag over the head thing, definetly a creepy look.

I don't know if it's a slasher, the Phantom Killer used a pistol and a blunt object, etc.

cover art was awesome, definitely creepy.

you can see him in action in pretty good quality in this trailer, whoever uploaded it is a cool person.

He also used a trombone with a knife tied to the end and if I remember, a pick axe.
