Yep, I've deleted bump posts in the past so the thread doesn't get too overwhelming. Also I've just let an old thread slip away and start a new one if the old got too messy.

Its an odd rule, but I guess aimed at people that were overdoing it with their multiple threads.

You do know you can always delete your own 'bump' posts.. So you don't need to have pages and pages of them.

How do you do that? I thought once a certain time passes by you can no longer delete your posts.

And we're still not able to edit our original thread titles once it has been up for awhile.

As long as your thread is open and active you can edit/delete your posts, I know I have on occasion gone back and done that even with older posts.

As for title changing, please feel free to pm either Jen or myself, with a link to your thread and stating what you want it changing to and we can change it for you.

It seems like a lot of extra work for the mods to have to keep track of changing thread titles all the time. Can't we just make it so that people can still create new "For Sale" threads, but only have one active thread at a time? As long people don't post in their old threads, they will naturally fall off the front page. If for some reason someone posts in an old thread, then the mods can step forward and lock it. I just think we need a solution that runs itself as much as possible.

If a thread is long inactive and has fallen back into the depths and not been used for a while then I don't think there would be a problem in another one being started. Peeps can simply pm us and state they want the old one locked (send us a link), we can close the old one and a new one can be started.

However, if a person chooses just to use one thread for a while, all the 'bump' posts can be deleted by the OP.
In addition I certainly have no problem changing a title if necessary, I do it all the time and I'm sure Jen is the same.

We are just trying to prevent there being one or two sellers with 15 sales (or WTB) threads, all with one item per thread.

*disclaimer, may be an eggageration with 15 threads each but you get my meaning ;)

I concur with everything Shell said. :D Anyone can PM me to change thread titles and/or delete/lock older threads.

Also, if a thread gets too cluttered and we want to start over, can't we just delete the original thread, or does that not work in this forum? (Never tried it here.)

The OP can always delete his original thread. Or ask a mod to.

Not sure if it's been covered already, but i recently had a not-so-great experience, where it left me and a few others scratching our heads.

As having been both a buyer and seller here and on ebay, I can feel for both sides of the fence. Recently, a sales thread was posted for a lot of items. The seller refused to break up the lot, so I made an offer that if I could have all the items be accounted for and act as a distributor, per se, if he would consider selling it still as a lot. Technically, it still met the seller's criteria.

Knowing my intentions and making it publicly clear of his agreement, I went off to get buyers. Although there were minor hiccups along the way, and the seller felt other potential buyers 'were pulling his chain', he must have felt i'd do the same.

Long story short, the seller told me if he could not sell the lot by Sunday, he'd go to ebay at 8-9pm Sunday. I told him i'd have money ready before that due date, which he said he was ok with.

So, I told all my co-buyers a cut-off of 8pm Saturday, but had to extend it because one of the buyers worked nights. By 7:17, the seller said he received an offer from someone. Before I could even respond or get my co-buyers to send in their promised money, the seller sold the lot to the new offer and closed the thread from further discussion.

While I can understand the seller has the right to sell/refuse sale, I still think that considering he knew the amount of effort going into it, and openly criticized others especially for not honoring their terms, I feel that he should have either honored his end, or at least take some criticism.

It made me feel like I wasted my own personal time, let alone people across the US and New Zealand. I used my own personal calling time, etc.

I just think that as sellers, there needs to be some clarification on courtesy, just as as buyers, there should be some as well to give ample time and status to both the seller and buyer.

Where should I ask 'theoretical' questions about selling - such as 'by how much should I be reasonably expected to reduce my asking price of a highly sought after item considering my item is used and comes from a smoking home (not me personally) and/or has minor niggles?'

At the end of the day the asking price is allocated by the seller so that's not something we can really answer.

If there are 'niggles/damage' then it depends on the severity of it as to how much you would mark it down, but again that depends on the seller.
If it's a highly sought after you are referring to then as long as you itemise/take pics of any problems to cover yourself you should be okay.

You can always add your asking price to a listing and say that you will consider offers too, but thats not a necessity if you want to get x amount for it. As I say the amount you are asking for is up to you.

Thanks. I ask because I'd be a first-time seller, I just don't fully know what to expect or the kind of money I should be asking on things. I don't wanna rip people off but at the same time I need some kind of money to make it worthwhile going to the bother of selling the stuff in the first place.

I know most Hot Toys figures go up in value but the ones I see on ebay are mostly listed as New or Never opened whereas not only are all mine opened they also may have had cigarette smoke exposure at some point. So I can foresee having to drop my prices by default even though there isn't visibly any negative effects....

Are there any existing threads for first-time sellers and buyers to ask questions?

This really is the only thread to ask questions about the Forum rules but your question is a more personal notation rather than a request about the rules.

May I suggest you search the Sales section for threads that have/are selling the items you want to sell and see if they are listed as used/mint/new etc.
In addition you can also check eBay for completed listings for the items you are looking to sell.

Apologies for bothering this thread again but I can't find anywhere else to post it really (least not that it got any attention and I need advice sooner than later)

Marking packages as Gift or Marking down the value. I've been asked by an ebay seller (a top rated one) if I would like him to do either of these for my item. I will get charged customs otherwise.

Typically you will... although maybe not as much if marked down. But, if you have it marked down you are unable to get it fully insured which can make for a tricky situation if it gets lost or damaged.

Its a situation where you might save some money, but one destroyed or lost expensive figure could negate it.

Its that scenario I'm afraid of. I've never had a package get lost or damaged before but what IF it happens and I can only claim half the price I paid or less. Decisions decisions.

Hmm, I've just noticed on my receipt that insurance was not offered so the above could be moot anyway. I'll get back the seller on that
