Re: Hot Toys Batman 1989: 1/6th scale Batmobile Collectible Vehicle - Specs & Pics

Our Macy's in town is going out of business and they're liquidating all their assets including any displays, furnishings and fixtures. I bought a jewelry counter from them yesterday in anticipation for this batmobile.

A jewelry...counter?? :thud:

My first reaction to this was disbelief.

My second reaction was jealousy at the ingenuity of this display solution.

I think I may have a problem with my collecting addiction. :lol

Re: Hot Toys Batman 1989: 1/6th scale Batmobile Collectible Vehicle - Specs & Pics

:exactly::exactly:

They give you rewards (points, gift cards, free shipping) but then punish you for using any combination of them :lol

I get it that if they give you something 100% free because of RP used that they shouldn't give you more reward points, that's fine.

But losing free shipping because gift card is used while everyone else keeps free shipping who didn't use a gift card is punishment for using the gift card. Why even bother sending out the card in the 1st place if you're just going to take it back somewhere else.

Correct me if I am wrong, but you earn the reward points by buying Sideshow products right?

How then do you earn the gift card? If it is just a complimentary thing that Sideshow gives out as a "thank you" for being a customer, then it is a bonus that you didn't really earn. Of course Sideshow is well within reason to put any restriction they want on that bonus, as you weren't expecting it, and they weren't obligated to give it to you.

In fact, not letting you use it in conjunction with existing RP is kind of the point, I think. It's a promotional thing to make you buy one more item, not to save you money on top of savings from RP that you were going to use anyway.

hmm....seeing as I've been tapering down my collecting habits I might get myself one of these. The only things I have on order are the 89 Batman and Joker, Luke DX, and the newest Ninja from Sideshow. This is well over a year off, and more than likely getting delayed so I think I'll jump and order it this weekend.

A year long wait for this to come out...

I fear for the sanity of this thread. :cuckoo:

Re: Hot Toys Batman 1989: 1/6th scale Batmobile Collectible Vehicle - Specs & Pics

I've changed direction and went with Alter Ego, the $566 price tag is slightly over my limit to purchase this....so since they have the best price, I went with them. They've already hit me for the $63 deposit too! :lecture

Re: Hot Toys Batman 1989: 1/6th scale Batmobile Collectible Vehicle - Specs & Pics

Do you have a rough estimate of how much Sideshow usually charges for shipping large items? So far, I've only ordered Hot Toys figures from them.

I just spoke to SS customer service. They said they can't quote shipping prices for next year due to possible fare changes at UPS, Fedex, ect.. But they were able to quote for a "comparable size product" and shipping right now would be around $35.00. It looks like $40 is a good average shipping price across the different retailers. By next year I would think it will be closer to $50 though, due to inflation and as consequence, higher gas prices.

BTW...quotes were to Texas.

Re: Hot Toys Batman 1989: 1/6th scale Batmobile Collectible Vehicle - Specs & Pics

Guys, possibly a stupid question, how do you work out what the customs fees will be on any given item should they apply? I've been trying to find out what percentages apply in Ireland but the only thing I found said that it varies and that doesn't exactly help me...

I want to know so I can compare the final prices between Toys2 (no customs but massive shipping cost) and my other 'usuals' BBTS and Sideshow (not quite so massive shipping but guaranteed customs bills added on)

Re: Hot Toys Batman 1989: 1/6th scale Batmobile Collectible Vehicle - Specs & Pics

So it's confirmed that if you use the Vday code, you don't earn reward points with SSC?

I'm in the same boat as you. I have the code. I also have some reward points, though not much at all--only about $20.

I can confirm this, used it to buy the hot toys muscular body, it shipped free and got the $25 discount but no rewards points, not showing in pending while all my other recent orders and pre-orders are...

Re: Hot Toys Batman 1989: 1/6th scale Batmobile Collectible Vehicle - Specs & Pics

Very tempted at the price, but I just don't have space for it.

Plus, I'm still hung up on the fact that's it's just a big hunk of plastic...

and an engagement ring is just a small hunk of metal and a tiny stone, but those cost $5K-$25K for the average person (depending on how insane you are).

massive shipping cost) and my other 'usuals' BBTS

USPS Express Mail $244.49
Delivery usually takes 3 to 8 business days - trackable. Contact your local customs office for duty and tax information.

UPS AIR SERVICE $197.99
Usually arrives in 2 to 5 days - Trackable. 15% VAT (product and shipping) and a handling fee of 11 GBP is due at the time of delivery. Addtional fees for orders over 2900 GBP

And you could easily lose that.

It would be awesome to do a light up white table top display like in the second picture. Does anyone know if you can buy something like this?

Re: Hot Toys Batman 1989: 1/6th scale Batmobile Collectible Vehicle - Specs & Pics

Yes, at an Graphic Arts supply store. Use to use light tables for paste up. Don't know if they still do, been over 12 years since I use one.

Lucky you.
I thought about getting one myself, but buying one at regular price. Decided to wait.

The display of the figure/vehicle at the top and room for storage down below.

I would've got a couple too at closeout price.

I wish SSC would allow for pick-up at their location.
