Man he looks great and like you say, if the eyes bulg out a wee bit more I think it will be bang on looooooooove it :)

THANKS guys! :)

So here I am, hollowing out the other eye:

Man this plastic likes to melt around the dremmel bit! I also trimmed more around the inside eye sockets so the marbles protrude a bit more. All done!

Popping in the marbles, one at a time:

Done!

I've decided to add a small strip of reflective sticker behind the eyes to highlight them a bit:

(the flash is really lighting the eyes up here in this second pic. First pic no flash.)

Maybe I'll take out the reflective sticker? What do you think? Are the eyes too bright?

Now on to his antennae. To re-attach them so they pose, I first drill a hole in each stump:

My tools for the antennae operation:

I superglue a small strip of brass tubing into the antennae part, and slide each dry tube end into the holes in the head:

More soon!

Here are the newly articulated antennae re-attached on a roughly, re-assembled head:

The first pic is with no flash, the rest with flash. The chrome sticker is REALLY lighting the eyes up with the flash pics!

Fantastic Job! I thought you were crazy cutting into such a nice sculpt but this is a very impressive upgrade.

Thanks guys! Yeah, I thought I was kinda nuts too, which is why I grabbed this head from Toy Anxiety to mod. I'd have a Greedo figure by now but my last job ended. :( Which is why I have time to mod this Greedo head! ....AND look for work too! ;)

So, basically I still think ol' Greedo's noggin is a bit thin, and that is why I pried off his mohawk. I think I found a way to 'widen' his head to match the film's Greedo. First, I cut him along the mohawk trench:

I then used my trusty screw driver to wedge into the cut, thus widening the head:

attachment.php

What do you think? The ears look way too big to me now, or at least too low on his head! :slap

Unmodded head--------------------------Greedo------------------my modded 'wider' head--------same, without ears

Do you think an acetone bath would shrink the ears, or would moving them do the trick? Maybe just a re-position further back on his head and slightly higher?

I don't think the ears are too big, they just sit too far forward.

Looking great so far!

Looks fantastic!!, can't wait to see you articulate his antennae.

Nice Greedo, Did something similar a few years back.
And since he's my Avatar....

I know the hands aren't quite right, must redo them sometime.

Amazing Talent you have there Brinn, it looks Far FAR better with the mods....Looks Fantastic :rock

Nice rebelpig! And Power, I can't read what you posted thanks to that blonde! :monkey3

;)

THANKS!

Now for Greedo, I decided that the ears had to be re-positioned, so I cut them off:
attachment.php

I then re-attached them temporarily and had a look:

attachment.php

I'm thinking the ears need to shrink slightly, but I wasn't sure what an acetone bath would do to them, so I decided to test the process on Captain Solo.... um, I mean, a scrap piece of Greedo's head plastic:
attachment.php

So far the plastic has been in the acetone for 8 hours and the piece has doubled in size. The first pic is the start of the acetone soak, and the second you may notice the piece has doubled in size.
Looks like it will work to slightly shrink the ears, since, when shrinking plastic heads, they double in size before they shrink. Notice I traced the piece's shape so I can compare them later on to see how much it has shrunk (if at all?).

Also, upon looking at the screencaps of Greedo's profile, I think the mohawk should be moved forward slightly, so I cut a bit away from the head, adding to the mohawk trench:

attachment.php

Here's the parts involved while they wait for the acetone test to finish:

More to come! :wave

Jesus, Brinn. There's no end to it.

I never knew you were such a Greedo fanatic.

But totally awesome work! :bow

I'll never see my SS Greedo the same way now.

Brinn Be careful with the Mohican part if you have acetoned it like I did. It goes very brittle. I'm Likely to redo mine with a piece I did not shrink.

Ha! Wor-Gar, I'm actually NOT a 'Greedo guy', but when I saw the head sculpt I knew it needed new eyes and once I started down the dark path.... :thud:
But I'll be finished up soon and I hope you like my finished results! I really didn't want to post at first since a lot of people like the SS Greedo as-is, but I thought I'd share. I didn't want to taint the job SS did on him!

No rebelpig, have no fear! I'm only acetone soaking the ears, not the mohawk. I'll post as I go. I've taken my test plastic piece out of the acetone soak and will let it dry overnight. I'll see how much it shrank in the morning and post a quick pic. :impatient:

More to come!
