progress report

The bad: I shorted out the white LED for the frog bowl and will have to replace it.

The good: I finally worked out more "correct" lighting for the hookah dome:

It's now lit by two LEDs, a yellow and a green. The effect is not as dramatic as just being lit with the green, but it's much more film accurate (I suppose I COULD have just ordered a superbright white, but then I would have had to wait, and who needs simplicity anyways?). It's a little hard to gauge how this looks from a photo in a brightly lit room, but I think the comparison gives you an idea.

Still working on the connectors.

Meta what are your plans for hiding the wires?

The wires are going to be glued in place from the top to the side as you see here, then run under the rail to the back corner where the box with the circuit board with the potentiometer and resistors will be, as well as where the power supply will plug in. I plan to [hopefully] paint the wires to be a close match to the rest of the throne to be as inconspicuous as possible.

Here's another photo of the lights in place and working:

The lighting is just PERFECT, Meta!
It's amazing to see it all come together so well.

I think putting the holes for the wires in a different location might hide them a little better, but I need to see some more pics focused on the wires themselves, so I can see exactly how much we have to hide. My hope is to be able to bring the wires through a hole in the seam between the pipe and bowl in the back, and snake it around the inside of the bannister. Jabba should hide the wires well enough, and as you say, once they're painted to match, they shouldn't be so conspicuous.

Mayb dremeling out the top of the bowl entirely ( the part hidden by the hooka) might make more room for everything...

How easy have you found the polystone to work with as far as drilling and dremeling?

Damn Metaphorge that looks awesome! Not only did you do a great job... but you must have balls of steel to just startd dremmeling like that :rock

I know very little about customizing these types of pieces, but perhaps using some liquid tape will make the connections easier to hide? Plus you can make it almost as thin as the wire and paint it. Might save some room as well.
2cents

Awesome job though! They are gonna have to start calling you BOSs - Balls of Steel

I still have to do some work to conceal the wiring and the circuit board, but the electronics are done. Whew.

That looks just stellar, Meta!

Excellent work conceiling the wires. That circuit board is gonna be a biotch, though. Wouldn't longer wires put the circuit board further back?

It's up to you, KD. I'm just learning how to work with the lights and things. I'm really more of a painter, so this is new territory for me. I imagine this'd be a snap for someone like Hurricane...
hi guys ,great work being done here, id have a go but need one to work on, so whos donating?:lol

....infact id love the whole set up...jabba...etc ,but iguess when we get it here in the UK itll be priced the same as you guys in the states but in pounds sterling....so we'll be paying almost twice as much:monkey2

Awesome work... Maybe I missed it but is that a customized Lando as Skiff guard or just the ol' regular Hasbro version? I've got one on the way from E-bay and I was wondering if you customized it what'd you do...

Love the Jawa and the lighting of the whole setup--- I've got the space for creating his entire throne room but the thought of drilling into his throne after throwing so many coins into the fountain to get it scares the beejeebees out of me!!!

Excellent work--- Some of the best pics of a set-up I've seen. Movie accurate... OK, I'll stop now--I'm gushing.
