I agree with the critic in the video.. People who ***** and moan about Turtles and Transformers need to remember that these are movies based on Toys and Cartoons... Sure you could make the argument that the turtles were originally a comic... but their popularity boomed with Children shows and toys...

The fact they are not all Masters of the Universe: The Movie should have fans rejoicing.


I think I must be just a tad to old to get any of this... I remember the 90's movie in the theater and liked it and I remember the comics but thought everything after that, the cartoons series, sequels and remakes have all been pretty crappy. Now the original comics are still fun but the original movie is bad. The Transformers toys were cool but I never owned a single one and I thought the Cartoon series was awful. So like I have said. These franchises have gotten more then they really deserve being that they are based on children cartoons and toys.

The 1987 MOTU movie completely ****s all over these Bay-Toitle moofys.

The OG Henson TMNTs are the benchmark.

I haven't seen the 1990 film in so long. I'm not sure if I would now be capable of seeing it in the positive light you guys do. Having said that, I haven't seen Bay's film at all....I don't even know why I'm in here....

I saw it a few months ago with my nephew; First time in a looooonnng time. I still love the dang movie. Yes it's a bit outdated - inevitably - but the scenes and characters were ripe with emotions and some sense of realism and depth. I don't think Bay's movies have any depth to it that would make me feel the way I did when Ralph freaks out over Splinter's kidnapping, Leo's guilt then excitement when Ralph awakens or when they all bonded over the Splinter campfire scene.

To me, Bay, is the epitome of action overload which desensitizes the enjoyment factor. I alluded to this briefly in the Civil War thread but nowadays, there's sooo much happening in superhero films - "epic" battles of city-wide or world-wide destruction, chaos run amok, buildings collapsing, fights on top of airplanes in flight, things falling from the sky, etc. The 90's TMNT's story was simple and ended with a battle scene on a rooftop. Superhero movies really should go back to smaller, localized boss battles and reserve the world-wide destruction battles for much bigger foes like Thanos or Apocalypse. However, it'll be hard to go back as each subsequent movie tries to up the ante. I believe less is more.

Those Pixar films and some of the Marvel movies are actually well written stories with good character development. I can't say there's ever been a great TMNT movie. The 1990 film is my favorite, but mainly because of the look and design of the turtles and environment. I also like the actors. However, the story is just as dumb as the last tmnt film, imo. The new one looks to be just as silly, just like the 80's cartoon, but that's fine.

I loved the 1990 movie. Was such a homage to the 1984 turtles. Though they were created as a joke, the story was still well thought out and mature.

I'll say this. TMNT is not just for kids. I challenge anyone here to read the entire 1-59 IDW Ninja Turtles comic run and tell me that's for kids. Netflix would do an amazing job bringing a balanced turtles to TV. There are some fun moments in the IDW turtles but it's a very well developed story for adults and some kids. That's the balance that would have success for this franchise. These Bay turtles were never made with care. It was made to piggy back off of the originals and to sell merchandise to kids. It was made strictly for business, not for fans. The makers of these new movies were not made with care.

I find most people have no idea what they are saying when they say that Bay Turtles have no emotions.

This one had plenty emotion between the turtles and is much more realistic in the sense of brotherhood. I have 2 brothers and 4 sisters, the emotions between siblings is more spot on not to mention their conflicting thoughts as TEENAGERS.


Not saying 90's Turtles don't have emotion, but I wouldn't bother against it. Seems more people have issues with Bay, Fox as April, Amell's look as Casey, the look of the turtles and splinter, and the origin story. People hated shredder's look and that was rectified. Idk, I just don't understand the hate.


I was never a huge TF fan either, but I do like the Bay films.

Movie was probably the best "comic book" film I've seen all year. It takes brownie points away from Civil War, simply because its the kind of movie I wish I could've seen as a kid growing up with the turtles.

Only compliant was the end fight scene was too short, but C'est La Vie.

I get that, but all I'm say is that the majority of the TMNT fanbase didn't read the comics, they grew up with the cartoon and the toys, and those two things had the most significant impact on the TMNT brand. I honestly can't see anyone who grew up with the cartoons and toys hating this film. I'm not an expert when it comes to the comics, but I can see those fans not liking the films, but then again, I doubt they like anything Turtle related that's been made in the last 30 years either, except for the comics...I guess.

Loved all the Turtle stuff though. Pete was a much better Leo than Knoxville. He did a lot of great work in first scene with Splinter (who also looked better).

Saw it and thought it was okay. I enjoyed it more than X-Men. Nothing as mind numbingly stupid as Magneto getting away with genocide. Casey's origin was botched big time. Shredder needed a fight scene. Less Megan Fox and less crap all over the turtles was an improvement.
