With the rivet it'd look ridiculous simply painted so like I said it'll take some sanding, some filling and someone with a steady hand....but I'm sure it'll happen.

Actually, if you wanted to do that with the Mark II head it wouldn't work, I see in the photos that the rivets on the head are inverted, you can't sand them off.

they're indented...paint inside them...
why would it look ridiculous?

Not to mention, it would be tough to match up the red paint/gloss to the rest of the figure by just repainting the head. You'd probably have to repaint the whole figure as well to match.

Isn't the tony stark head inside the helmet going to look ridiculously squashed compared to other HT 1/6ths? It was my hope that the Iron Man figures would be slightly larger than other figures due to the fact theres supposed to be a person inside the armour - but Mark III wasn't any bigger at all. Proportionally it was no different to a figure who has no external armour.

Wow, this figure looks great. I won't get it, but I will be a bit jealous of those that do have it. I look forward to all the pictures of this guy.

so what?

then it would look slightly different...
or you could put a thin layer of sculpey over them...:duh

Why would you paint it to look like Mark III if it's going to look slightly different?

That's exactly what Mike said. :duh:duh

:lol. So if you put a thin layer of sculpty in them that'd be a fill. Then to get the sculpty flush with the rest of the figure you'd have to.........wait for it........wait for it.........wait for it..........*gasp! SAND! :lol

It doesn't look like its a full head but the facial part that is attached on the inside to the sliding part of the mask. It won't look squished because you can't actually remove the helmet or even slide the mask. Everything is static.

Not too much fanfare about this, huh? The Mark III thread went nuts with new pics from ToyWorld. Not so much here. Wonder why?

I didn't even realize that actual in hand pics were out....just taking part in conversation.

Either way....this is the one most passed on. Mark 03 is iconic, Mark 01 is original, this is one that will be held by completists or hardcore Iron Man fans.

I'm glad they went full faceplate removal instead of slider because its film accurate, the slider isn't but does anyone know if you can position it that way because it doesn't look it from the figure itself.

Looks like the top portion can be slid into the top of the mask so you can display it either way....

I like that they even detailed the inside of the faceplate. From the proto pics I had thought that it would be a fixed position on the top of his head, but its removable so you can display it in different positions and even without the faceplate at all. Is there any part in the movie where we see Tony in the Mark II with the face plate off?

Yes and No. In the Mark 2 sequence after Jarvis tells him that he has been uploaded and is online you see Tony reach down and grab the faceplate which is how we see the internals. This is just the logical look of what we would have seen on the other side.

Still deciding whether I should get these or HB. I know that I'd be extremely pissed if they release mark 1 a few weeks later and I don't have the spare cash to get it.

Right! I remember him holding the faceplate now.

Well you can always go ahead and order this from SS and if the Mark I is released in Hong Kong in the mean time you can cancel this. Its usually several months after it releases in Hong Kong that SS gets them. I sort of doubt that the May date will stick for this and I really doubt that the May date will stick for the Mark I.

No doubt because HT put it off too long and because design wise this one is too similar to Mark III.

Cool enough figures but the hype disappeared and I realised I just wasn't enough of a fan to own all the IM figures. Mark III is enough of a representative for this superhero franchise.
