In a Bane mask

Bane/Shinzon: "What a lovely, lovely ship!"

Kirk: "Why yes, she is something, isn't she? When I took command of her -"
Bane/Shinzon: "Let the games begin!"

Kirk: "I'm sorry, I don't follow Mr...Shinzon? Bane? You like games? Do you play chess or are you referring to poker?"

Bane/Shinzon: "We will destroy Earth and then, when it is done and Earth is ashes, then you have my permission to die."

Kirk: "What the devil are you going on about? You compliment my ship, ask me to play games, and now you're threatening to destroy me and my planet?"

Bane/Shinzon: "Speak of the devil, and he shall appear!"

McCoy: "Jim, this guys got a few tribbles in his quadrotriticale, if you know what I mean!"

Bane/Shinzon: "I was born in the dark, moulded by it. I didn't see the light until I was already a man, by then it was nothing to me but BLINDING!"

Kirk: "Uh, Mr. Spock..."

::Spock shines flashlight in Bane/Shinzon's face::

Bane/Shinzon: "AAAARRGGGHHHH!!! CAN'T...SEE!!!"

::Spock nerve-pinches Bane/Shinzon. Bane/Shinzon collapses::

Spock: "What shall I do with him, Captain?"

IN THE 24th CENTURY

Picard: "Well, Mr. Data, shall we open up this old photon torpedo tube we found floating in space and see why there are life-signs emanating from it?"

:: Data opens photon torpedo casing ::

Bane/Shinzon: "I am the League of Shadows, and I'm here to fulfill Ra's al Ghul's destiny!"

Picard: "Merde. Here we go again..."

If he is, I am mad....Khan aint no white dude

Yes, mostly for me. Partly that Ricardo Montalban did such a great job creating this character, both in the 60's and 80's that its almost sacrilegious for another person to play the character.

That, and while this movie universe is a alternative reality, Cumberbatch is supposed to be Ricardo Montalban - same person, different timelines, so it bugs the **** out of me that Khan is now a white dude from Britian, when Khan was a dude born in Mexico (actor at least).

Ricardo Montalban may have been born in Mexico, but he's of Castilian Spanish decent, so he is a white guy.
And Khan Noonien Singh is supposed to be Sikh Indian, not a Spaniard, but Montalban portrayed him perfectly so no complaints.
Besides, Klingons are supposed to have alien forehead ridges but look completely different in TOS, the reason for this is they've genetically engineered themselves with Augment DNA. So if Augment DNA can make Klingons like a bunch of white guys with fake black beards and shoe polish covering their skin (that's really what it is), it can make a Sikh Indian look like a white British guy.

All that matters for me is the writing and performance, if Cumberbatch can deliver (which he seems to do in the trailers) and the story rocks, then I'll be happy.

Khonsu70, I loved that dialogue sequence :lol

I think it was great that they didn't try to pretend TOS klingons weren't really klingons in that DS9 episode.

Bashir - 'those are klingons?'
Worf - 'It is not something we discuss with outsiders' :monkey3

Normally for myself as well.....for whatever reason i am really hung up on Montalban being Khan and Khan alone, I guess. Much prefer Cumberpatch being Gary Mithchell myself, but I digress..

I think it would be cool if the SS Botany Bay is destroyed or lost and the Federation are at fault with Joachim being the only survivor, he steals a Federation ship and forms a terrorist plot against the Federation.

Well, given that Khan is originally from India, Ricardo M himself should have not been the right casting (given that he is from Mexico). Don't get me wrong, I think Ricardo M played one of the greatest movie villains of all time.

So given that, I am not that bothered that Cumberbatch doesn't look like him.

Your pic isn't showing up for me, Joachim - is that Khan's second in command guy?

Aye, that be him.

I think Cumberbatch looks more like he could be Joachim then Khan.

Khan said he would "avenge him" in TWOK so, flip that **** around in the alternate timeline.

That could be interesting. Was he genetically engineered aswell, I can't recall.

I'm actually okay with someone else playing Kahn, and if anybody could, Benedict could. I'm just annoyed that they went to Kahn at all. And for part 2 no less.

Admittedly I'm not really familiar with much of Trek outside the movies and most of the TV shows. Is Kahn considered to be Kirk's Joker or Moriarty? IS Kahn Kirk's ultimate nemesis? That would be the only reason I could think of for them to use Kahn in this rebooted timeline--if they are destined to always battle each other, no matter what the alternate reality may be.

Otherwise they could have done literally anything. The entire Trek universe was wide open to use or create another great villain.

Well...not objectively so. There was only one episode and one film. He was just so popular that people consider him this ultimate villain.

Yep, he was on the SS Botany Bay and in TOS episode of Space Seed he had dark brown hair so, it works.

My personal opinion is that I quite happy if they go with Khan. As much I loved the reboot, Nero was forgettable (in terms of creating a new villain). Agreed there is a huge Star Trek universe, but Khan is just so awesome and I'd love to see another take on him.

I wonder how they'd make it personal between Kirk and whoever it would be of either Khan or Joachim - since the events of Space Seed and TWoK presumably don't play out like that in this alternate reality.

Well, as would I but I'm just not sure I see the point if he's going to be so drastically different.

I would guess the Enterprise encounters SS Botany Bay near the Neutral Zone and starts an investigation as to why it is there and maybe try to save the crew before the ship drifts into hostile territory, as the investigation commences the Klingons surprise attack Botany Bay and the Enterprise forcing them to beam out Kirk and Spock with Joachim and escape.

Maybe then we see why Cumberbatch takes revenge on Klingons and then later creates a evil plot against the Federation, first by stealing Reliant or Excelsior.

I wouldn't have the Reliant again. While I can conceive that that ship would exist at this point, just as the Enterprise does, it'd be a bit too coincidental perhaps that it would be stolen by khan or joachim in this reality aswell.

Yea exactly and Reliant was a light cruiser class anyway so, if that more advanced looking ship we see crashing into SF bay is indeed Cumberbatch's ship then i hope it is Excelsior or Lexington,Yorktown,Lakota,Constitution etc.

Yeah Gary Mitchell is rulled out b/c Kirk knows Mitchell.

So it's Khan huh? Oh well I was guessing Garth maybe and he found the fountain of youth in space.

I'm kind of hoping this version of Khan also hijacks another Fed-ship.
