Re: Ot: Lotr lego coming

Yeah, I know what you mean, Yo... I'm only buying SW 1/6th now so it's nice to mix it up with a Lego set here and there.

Well I have the advantage of being unemployed to help me limit my spending. :lol But even so, pulling back has given me a new perspective. I still check out all the new SS and HT announcements and specs but I don't really want to own them. I think I just prefer sculpture to clothed figures, which may eventually lead me to maquette-type figures. :dunno I am enjoying picking up some low end stuff.

But all that's beside the point - I only started with Lego this year and aside from the nostalgia, I just love the whole package. The aesthetic, the "build," the scale you can achieve. :yess: And LOTR is something I didn't collect much from. So it's perfect timing for me.

So is that the entire list of figures that are currently available anywhere (besides store exclusives)?

Re: Ot: Lotr lego coming

Cool. Gonna try and figure out what the most logical way to get the whole Fellowship is.

Re: Ot: Lotr lego coming

Waiting for Minas Tirith... hopefully it's at least 3000 pieces, but I doubt it.

Re: Ot: Lotr lego coming

I'm really hoping for a large Bag End set. Since it figures in both LOTR and The Hobbit I think there's a good chance.

Re: Ot: Lotr lego coming

Woah. Is that happening for sure?

That I would buy, AND find a spot to display...

Haha, sorry I meant hoping. But they HAVE to. How can they not??

I can see them do it as different sets of different sections of the city. Then you can connect the sections together.

No way it would even approach being the right scale. But if it was the right shape (recognizable as Minas Tirith), I would buy it.

Gandalf arrives..shelob attacks...Weathertop...mines of Moria. I think that covers them all.

Looks to be right.

  • Shelob set: Frodo and Sam
  • Gandalf set: Gandalf and Frodo
  • Moria set: Boromir, Legolas, Gimli and, Pippin
  • Weathertop set: Aragorn, Merry, and Frodo

Seems pretty efficient too. The only duplicate is 3 Frodos, and the one that comes with the Gandalf set is different.

The only non-Fellowship figure from the current sets that I kinda want is Theoden. I wont buy the Helms Deep set just for him though.

Re: Ot: Lotr lego coming

Just noticed that the Summary for The Battle of Helm's Deep is wrong. It reads:

Resting in the ancient fortress ruins of Weathertop, Aragorn, Frodo and Merry are suddenly attacked by the Ringwraiths, the evil servants of Sauron! Will the Ringwraiths take The One Ring from Frodo or can Aragorn stop the evil Ringwraiths in time? Includes 5 minifigures: Aragorn, Frodo, Merry and 2 Ringwraiths.

Re: Ot: Lotr lego coming

Wait, Gandalf Arrives:

Gandalf
Frodo

Shelob:

Sam
Frodo

Moria:

Pippin
Gimili
Legolas
Boromir

Weathetop:

Merry
Frodo
Aragorn

So yeah, not bad.

EDIT: Took too longg to post/didn't see Mags coverted it.

Re: Ot: Lotr lego coming

LEGO sets are generally not the right scale unless its feasible for the price and line; they just try to capture the spirit of its source.

The UCS Millenium Falcon is over 5,000 pieces... I can't even imagine how many pieces a minifig scale Minas Tirith would be. Impossible!

Re: Ot: Lotr lego coming
