Here is my first custom: CT-2222(I have a backstory in the spoiler tags).
For this I used a SSC Commander Bly, two SSC Bespin Han Gas Masks, Boussh Leia Side Cape and a SSC Rope from I believe a Cobra Viper.
First I repainted the armor white and parts of the shoulder pauldron and belt midnight blue.
Then I painted his face with his war-paint and the little cartridge bits that hang from the pauldron blue. I also painted some gold into his pauldron.
Next I masked off sections on the helmet, shoulder bells, biceps, forearms, hands, right thigh and knee armor parts and painted them midnight blue. I also removed the middle section of his rifle to create a different gun for him.
The next step was to do the same for sections and use antique gold, at this point I also painted a midnight blue late-Clone Wars-era Republic Symbol on his side-cape(I used this symbol rather than the Galactic Empire symbol because in the backstory he wears this armor right at the forming of the Empire and I assumed a symbol wouldn't be ready yet.)
Next I sewed the elastic from the gas mask to form a small loop.
I then cut the roper into three padawan braids of varying length and wrapped them in thread.
Combining the two I sewed them together. Now I can hang the braids from the belt.
I removed the clear tubes from the gas mask tanks and glued them together where the tubes were cut off. I also glued the cord from an old computer mouse to the tanks. (I would later separate the tanks and turn them to face opposite directions so both clips are on the same side).
Not Pictured: I also sewed a piece of the elastic to the cape so it can be stretched across the chest and shoulder under the chest armor. Another piece of elastic was sewn to loop through the pauldron neck and hole and over and around the back of the pauldron(for the air tanks).
Here are a few pics of him put together( I used some tacky to temporarily hold the tubes wehere they will go). The tubes are also very long at this point, they will be cut once I seal the figure, then I can glue them to the helmet.
Spoiler:CT-2222 aka Double-down was a clone trooper fighting for the Grand Army of the Republic during the Clone Wars. He was court-martialed for his use of excessive force and torture on surrendered separatists. After the Jedi Rebellion Emperor Palpatine ordered CT-2222 free from his imprisonment along with six other like-minded clone troopers to form Squad Seven aka The Jedi-Hunters. CT-2222 was promoted to Sergeant and led Squad Seven for much of the early years of the Galactic Empire hunting down any remaining Jedi. In the case of a Jedi-padawan CT-2222 would capture and torture the padawan before killing it and removing the padawan braid, which he wore as trophies on his left hip behind his holster. As a ritual Squad Seven paints their faces with war paint before each hunt, CT-2222's resembles camouflage.
