here is a quick YT vid of the final completed IM MK42 1/4 statue by XM Studios. Still haven't changed my conclusions regarding this piece in that the design looks great, super concept with the switch out arm and alternate RDJ/Paltrow headsculpts...however, this piece is let down by the lack of any light up feature :( for me personally, if its to do with Iron Man then it needs at the very least to have light up eyes and arc reactor :lecture also the likenesses are still not there for me on either portrait, so far it looks as though Hot Toys have come the closest at nailing RDJ...then you have the price tag - way overpriced in my opinion and these are the reasons why I dont think it will sell so well and why alot of collectors will hold out for the SSC MK42 maquette. Finally, and by no means least...they've only gone and got the bloody Arc reactor the wrong way round again!!! :slap WTF!!!!! :dunno

P.S. Just love the Ozzy Ozbourne Iron Man theme at the end of the vid :rock :rock

I noticed that too !

Excellent feedback! I've checked with the xm guys and they said the sample's arc is not glued and possibly shifted placement but more importantly, the final statues from the production house will have the arc the right way up and secured to make sure it stays in place.

...but sadly still no light up feature on this piece :(

Good news.

Can you check with XM about dropping the insane price for US collectors to buy this now :lol

So I'm kinda like a part time helper and personal friend who meets the xm guys once a month for a beer. They are a small lean team and busy with production stuff so I try to help consolidate community feedback and pass it along when I can. Love the comments, it's exactly things they want to hear. So here's the thing, the xm guys are small players, and the 1/4 scale statues are kinda monopolized by the big players, so as much as they'd like to sell beyond 4 countries in Asia, they are forbidden to do so. With regards to the light up feature for ironman, believe me it was a big dilemma for the xm boys. So they made the decision based on two factors.

1. Throughout their careers, they've been asked to repair statues that has wiring and lighting features which often requires parts of the statue to be taken apart in serious cases. To avoid complications of lighting issues, they felt it was better to keep it as a museum sort of statue like the other characters they are rolling out. In short, less risks for owners who can get the battery leaks etc especially in humid parts of Asia.

2. They didn't just go with their guy feel, they asked old clients and friends in Asia about preference and it was surprising that about 60% of the feedback was to avoid lighting. It wasn't a big win by any means but the fact is no matter which option xm chose, they would disappoint the other group. :( they can't do both based on costs restrictions btw.

I know it's not a perfect answer but the xm boys are still building their base and foundation so they are playing it safe. Start slow and small and get to a point they can nego for better licensing rights to roll out the statues in different formats (light up or not) at better rates.

And hey, we've got Andy who can stick light bulbs into statues eh? More business to Andy! ;)

Keep the criticism and comments coming. It's the best way for the xm boys to grow.

By talk about avoid lighting in statue, I also received some feedback that even SS IM MK3 LSF LED light goes off just like tat. It was working few minutes ago.
But my thinking is, why LED light in our house can last much longer ? wouldn't they the same?

If the worst, it really happen, nothing is last forever. I actually was suggesting IA to take a look on how to provide service / special design to repair the light. Is it possible to full the LED light from bottom of statue with trail, and we able to buy from outside and put it back?

Interesting... Hopefully, they can create a lightup that is easilly replaced wo damaging the statues for future.

Wow, good luck my friend! I can;t imagine how you'd go about doing that without a blow torch :lol

by using a scalpel my friend...although I didn't use it very well and accidently stabbed myself! :doh :blissysmi Nice one Sideshow! :clap :lol Arc Reactor is now fixed!!! ;)

:lol :lol I must have fixed/modded about 12 statues this year!!! and its only Feb!!! :thud: although not all of them are Sideshows fault! Just fixed the Arc Reactor on Sideshows Iron Man MKVI LSB which wasn't easy....still, all this modding and fixing is really quite therapeutic and helps keep me busy when the wife and kids have all gone to bed :lol

Thanks for sharing your thoughts and updates my friend :clap from what ive seen so far from XM Studios, their sculpting work and paint apps seem to be fantastic! Loving their Marvel license...

Hmmm the boys at XM Studios thought about the light up features and are looking at implementing it for the Black Widow's base/backdrop. There are alot of switcheroos and they are looking at allowing collectors to fix a LAMP pillar top - that can light up! But they need to check the costs and feasibility of it... the amount of switch parts is making the costs expensive...

Yeah the original colors for BW were too saturated - they are still looking around for a Pro photographer. They have updated the BW images with corrected color scheme. Looks better IMO. see below for my fav photo! :)

But anyways...... New Ironman Mark VII concept! Heard they got it approved.... now they just need to work out the production dates.
