The only mishap I want to see fixed in the extended editions is fixing the size of the hobbits at the end.

After Sam and Frodo split from the other two, the other two drank that tree water that made them grow taller in 'Two Towers'. But then, when everyone got back together at the end of 'Return of the King', they were all the same size still.

I don't remember from the books, but I thought that the size increase was only temporary.

^^^It was permanent.

Never bothered me in the film though.

In my opinion, a far bigger continuity error would be Bilbo looking like this when he finds the ring:

Instead of this:

If they replaced the original 'finding of the ring' scene with a clip from the Hobbit I would be very happy. In fact, I would happily re-buy the Trilogy on bluray just for that.

Other than that it would just be nice to see a few CGI shots fixed up a bit. Two that come to mind are the Warg attack in TT and the scene when Gollum has the elven rope around his neck and says "take it off us!" That always looked dodgy to me.

George Lucas didn't make these movies...

I don't want him messing with the original like Lucas did Star Wars. Let it be.

Exactly! Leave it be.

I don't like what Lucas did to the OT with one exception. I like that he swapped Hayden Christensen for Sebastian Shaw.

I think it rounds out the series nicely.
It would be even more important for the Hobbit because we will actually see Bilbo find the ring, which was already shot in the LOTR prologue. I think Martin Freeman is passable as a young Ian Holm, so just inserting a clip from the Hobbit movie over the shot of Ian finding the ring would totally work, and it would fix a glaring continuity error.

Regarding the "updates" done to Star Wars: The original movies didn't have CGI, so to add them dramatically changes the look of the films, and it takes away much of the charm. And it sticks out like a sore thumb in many cases.

On the other hand, LOTR was made in the era of CGI, but was rushed in a few spots. I think to go in and tweak the CGI in those week spots would just make the movies better. For me, the source material is the books. If tweaking CGI can bring the books to life more effectively, it wouldn't bother me in the slightest. In fact, I'm totally in favor of it. :peace

I think the $10 coupons are considered upgrades for people who already own the DVD but the blu comes out.

The Princess and the Frog, Up, Toy Story 3, and the Sorceror's Apprentice all had $10 coupons when they came out day and date with the DVDs. So no, it's not just upgrades.

Hmmmmmmm.....then I guess Disney is just become cheap bastards then! :monkey4

But they are already out on Blu-ray, so how is it the Blu-ray debut?!

Well, not all the movies but i think it's just because it's all the movies in one box-set for the first time :dunno

Is there much difference between the extended and theatrical releases of the original Superman movie?
