I guess you're right, he didn't do much "action" per se, but I guess I would just love to see a furry one as impressive as that Hasbro sculpted one...maybe we'll never get to that point :monkey2

I'd love it too, I've just seen no evidence that it's doable yet, Hot Toys' apes aren't the same, and like I said, I haven't even really seen one time customs do it, and those are figures where the maker can take all the time in the world to get the look right. I imagine there's probably a way to "sculpt" real fur to get that shaggy look, but, I imagine it'd be really slow and prone to slip ups and would take years just to turn out a few thousand figures. People lose patience after 4-5 months, they'd go nuts preordering and not getting him for a year or two.

The Hasbro furred Chewie can have that same type of shaggy look as in the reference pic when it is styled with mousse and combed through. So we know the fur exists, which is the hardest piece to the puzzle, IMO. What we need is an accurate looking face for the fur to be placed around on the head, a body that is in correct proportion, and fur that is colored correctly. I believe all of these can obstacles can be over come with foresight in the design and sourcing the necessary material. The most expensive part of the figure will be the head with the correct amount of fur placed in the right directions around the eyes, nose, and mouth. The body should be pretty easy to make with only a few color variations. I think it could be done as a body suit around an articulated plastic body.

Funny the things you see while scrolling through message boards. The original of this pic is hanging on the wall behind me.

Very cool! Where did ya get? I just happened on it looking for pics, it's a great painting!

The droids, Hammerhead, Probe Droid, Jango Fett and E1 Obiwan are fantastic to hear about.

The band and Gamorrean? meh...

:lecture I'm with you. The only ROTJ figures I care about now are Royal Guards, Biker Scout, Ackbar, Boba Fett and of course reveal Vader. I'm already pretty much burned out on the Jabba's Palace stuff. No interest in the Rebo Band. That this is apparently coming before ANH Cantina Band is rather annoying, imho.

Dear Sideshow,

ANH Cantina >>>>>>>>>>> ROTJ Jabba's Palace.

End.

Also, other than the design... is there any reason to like Grievous? (The original CW cartoon doesn't count, since the figure will be based on his awful ROTS character).

I really would like to see those characters to get a 1/6 counterpart from Sideshow:

-> Mara Jade
-> Royal Guard
-> Commander Cody
-> Count Dooku

Well, they already did Thrawn so it would be awesome to see Expanded Universe characters like Mara. And I really hope that Mara will be the next figure since 2 years...

The band and guards next in line? Nah... I really could pass on them...

Im pumped for the Rebo band because Hasbro is giving them the shaft and won't even bother trying for the '83 Sy Snootles. Besides, I need to hone in on a focus and after the "Original 12", Jabba's palace always makes an impression.

ANH Cantina >>>>>>>>>>> ROTJ Jabba's Palace.

End.

It's visually redundant for one thing, the members all look alike, it's more an instrument variety.

Also, it'll be cool to have one day, but they better be ready with a Cantina booth for Han and the gang plus a number of Cantina creatures to go with them or they'll be boring.

At least the Rebo band compliments existing diorama display with the Jabba gang.

I don't see a great reason beyond design, but isn't that good enough reason for buying a collectible. Figures, busts, statues, they don't perform on your shelf. I collect things based on either the character personality and or design really resonating with me. Grievous as a character turned out weaker than expected, but his design is fantastic and I'd happily get him as a figure.

That's like saying "is there any reason to like Boba Fett"? Except Grievous actually had a character. All Boba did was stand there, yeah he looked cool, but he died like a beach! He didn't have any character. I love Grievous' character in ROTS, he's slimy and double crossing, you can't have every bad guy be a Vader or Maul an unstoppable bad arse!

couldn't agree more!

LOL!!! I'm a Fett fan but I gotta admit you make a lot of sense.

I like that they do have plans to complete the Duel of the Fates. That means we'll be seing a TPM Obi Wan and a Qui Gon PF someday. Guess i'll be keeping Maul after all.

Boba Fett originally inspired his audience to fill in his backstory… he was cool because he was created within each of out imaginations. Kenner released his figure months before THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK leaving kids to run wild with who they wanted him to be…

...and ironically, we find out now, he's not from the warrior race we all thought Mandos were, but from a race of tree-hugging hippies! :lol

Thanks! I had it commissioned by the artist. It's a sweet piece. The art measures out at 18x28".
